Happy Birthday!

I made it! I'm 29! Well I was as of Saturday. I baked an Orange Cream cake on Friday night after it cooled off. It was 111 on Friday while hubs was driving home from work. I kids and I spent the day inside blissfully unaware of the temps.

On Saturday my dad invited us bowling, I actually won a game. This was the first time I've bowled since I was in high school, up until now my wrists always hurt I couldn't even pick up a bowling ball. Just to be safe I used some of the lightest balls but I was fine and I bowled several strikes, which surprised me to no end!

After bowling my husband made dinner, steaks on the grill, mushrooms, watermelon, strawberries and my cake for dessert. He also did the dishes. It was a wonderful day.

I kept thinking about how far I've come from last year when I was still in shock over my hospitalization and awaiting a diagnosis. I really believe that getting that diagnosis saved my life (more about this later). Looking back over the last year I am truly blessed in my life and so thankful for all the support not only from my family but everyone on the web in the alternative medicine community that provides support for these diets that really do heal people.

This is the dessert set up I created for my daughter's 6th birthday party. The theme was Pink, in case you were wondering and no, I wasn't able to eat anything on that table. Funny thing is though, that now that I've been off the sugar for over 10 months now I don't even crave it, which is wonderful.

Today is my Grandfather's 94th birthday. I'm so blessed to have know him my entire life.

My Grandfather and His mother

This is a photo of him and his mother at a birthday party at a local state park. I have no idea when this was taken (I'm assuming the 50's). I love how they are dressed. I don't think I would have liked to live back then (lack of technology, of which I have become dependent) but I would to go back to dressing so nicely for every occasion. She wearing white gloves!

We ended up having a small "party" for Baby Girl over the weekend. I wanted to share the most successful gifts since I was having so many problems picking things out for her.

Her absolute favorite thing was a complete impulse buy I made on Friday and paid the extra 3.99 for the over night shipping via Amazon prime. A snow white play hut tent.

I knitted her a monster

and my mom ended up getting her the Elmo Potty Time dvd, which is adorable. We've watched it at least 7 times.

She also got a Hanny Manny Fix It TV (both my girls love this)

and of course, I made her a cake.

Baby Girl's birthday is in a month. I have no idea what to get her. What do 2-year-olds like?

I was thinking about getting her one of these things

which she would either LOVE or be terrified of. So I'm thinking that maybe if I can find one at a store she could check out in person and see how it goes. I don't want to spring it on her on her actual birthday.

Here's another option

cause we're pushing the potty training. However, she doesn't really watch Elmo. She likes Elmo (stuffed toys) but I'm not sure if she'd 1) watch it or 2) care.

I think the main problem I'm having is that she's just got so much stuff! She's gotten all the hand-me-downs from her two older siblings. We've probably got at least one of everything fisher price has ever manufactured. On top of that, my three kids are the only grandchildren on both sides of the family.

Over planning once again!

I know what I'm going to buy myself for my birthday (in July!) this year.

Because I so want to learn how to crochet and since this kit is geared towards children I most likely will be able to understand the instructions.

I just don't get why after several years of trying I just can't do it.

Admittedly the only reason I really want to learn it to make this shawl which I've been coventing for as long as I've been married.

And yes I plan on giving the little suitcase to the children, which one? No idea, I'm sure that will cause an issue.
